Oak Pointe’s craftsmen can design and fabricate intricate and beautiful wreathed (tangent) rail and fitting components that your project requires. Wreathed products have compound radii that allow them to climb and twist at the same time.
When bending rail and standard fittings will not work, Oak Pointe can fabricate wreathed components to easily accommodate tight turns and climbing situations. Standard fittings can often create a broken or “choppy” appearance. When these constraints are present, consider wreathed rail and fittings for a graceful solution to a difficult problem.
Our designers find a balance between minimizing the number of wreathed rail sections while also minimizing the exposure of end grain. Wreathed rail includes sections of solid ply material (like our straight rail) that give a more pleasurable appearance across the top of the rail. With bending rail, there are multiple seams running the entire length of the rail visible on the top.
While the fabrication of wreathed rail is more costly than bending rail and standard fittings, it is easier and less expensive to install. With the right application, wreathed rail and fittings are key to creating the unique stairway that your home deserves.
Wreathed parts can be intimidating, but they are calculated and manufactured based on mathematics. Oak Pointe has perfected the process, and we’re happy to lead you through it. After receipt of your order, we will provide you with plan view drawings in which we ask for specific field measurements (it’s rare that our staff needs to make a field visit). When the wreathed parts are capping metal railing, it is best to let Oak Pointe make the wood components first.
